This effectively makes it much harder to not achieve a perfect first layer, improving overall print success. WebWithout firmware retraction, Cura will just perform the retractions itself with normal G1 extruder moves using the length/speed configured in the slicer. When firmware retraction is enabled, none of the retraction values in Cura have any effect. Those only apply to normal slicer retraction.
