WebJul 23, 2011 · It's not the type of tranny that impacts flat towing and early Bronco - its the D20 output shaft. It won't get lubed if you tow with the TC in neutral. I have flat towed a lot behind several different vehicles including a 25 ft Class C Motorhome and have had no problems. I now have a trailer, but flat towing worked fine. WebDec 30, 2003 · The Ford Service and Owners Manuals say don't tow with the driveshaft on. The other problem is brakes on the towed vehicle. Almost all states have some requirement for auxillary brakes or minimum stopping distances when towing a vehicle weighing above a certain amount. The Bronco is above the weight limit in every state.
